Ashtead Technology’s growth journey so far

Founded in 1985, Ashtead Technology was established to provide customers in the North Sea and beyond with high-specification survey and ROV equipment on a rental or sale basis.

Through organic growth and strategic acquisition, Ashtead Technology has fast evolved into a world-leading subsea equipment rental and solutions business serving the global offshore energy sector. With over 650 employees, Ashtead Technology serves its customers throughout its ten international technology and service hubs.

2024

Acquisition of Seatronics and J2 Subsea

Ashtead Technology completes the acquisition of SeascanLimited and its subsidiaries (known as Seatronics), and its sister company J2 Subsea, further strengthening our subsea survey and ROV tooling capabilities, expanding our rental fleet by 30% and enhancing our ability to support the growing global offshore energy market

Acquisition of ACE Winches

Ashtead Technology acquired ACE Winches, the company’s eighth acquisition in the last six years, further strengthening its product and service offering across both oil & gas and offshore wind markets

2022

Acquisition of Hiretech

Ashtead Technology acquired Hiretech, further strengthening its mechanical solutions offering for the IMR, decommissioning and offshore renewables sectors

Acquisition of WeSubsea

Ashtead Technology acquired WeSubsea, specialists in high-performance dredge solutions

2021

Ashtead Technology completes IPO

In November 2021, Ashtead Technology successfully completed its IPO. The company's shares began trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange on the 23rd November 2021

New subsea technology centre, Aberdeenshire facility

Ashtead Technology’s Mechanical Solutions and Asset Integrity specialists relocate to a new subsea technology centre in Aberdeenshire, UK

2020

New Houma facility

Ashtead Technology invests in a new state-of-the-art Houma facility to support Gulf of Mexico customers

2019

Aqua-Tech Solutions acquisition

Ashtead Technology acquires Louisiana-based subsea rental and services company Aqua-Tech Solutions, strengthening the group’s USA survey equipment rental and mechanical tooling offering.

Further equity support from investors

Buckthorn Partners and APICORP up their stake in the group by acquiring Forum Energy Technologies stake in Ashtead Technology

Middle East expansion

International expansion continues with a new facility in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi which is more than double the size of the previous location to increase the range of equipment and services offered to Middle East based clients

Acquisition of Underwater Cutting Solutions

Ashtead Technology acquires UK based Underwater Cutting Solutions, rounding out the year with an expanded inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) and decommissioning service offering

2018

Joint venture with Forum Energy Technologies

Ashtead Technology becomes the leading independent provider of subsea survey and ROV equipment rental services following the acquisition of Forum Subsea Rentals in an all share deal with Forum Energy Technologies, Inc

2018

Acquisition of Welaptega Marine

Ashtead Technology acquires Canada-based underwater asset integrity and inspection specialists Welaptega Marine, strengthening the Group’s subsea inspection, maintenance and repair capabilities

2017

TES Survey Equipment Services acquisition

The Group expands its service offering to the Middle East through acquiring Abu Dhabi based TES

2016

Further investment and expansion

Ashtead Technology is acquired by London-based energy investment firm Buckthorn Partners and Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (APICORP)

2014

Launch of subsea training academy

Due to growing demand for customer equipment training, Ashtead Technology’s subsea training academy launches in Aberdeenshire, United Kingdom, in the world-renowned subsea centre of excellence in Westhill

2013

Ashtead Technology sells North American instrument business

Ashtead Technology sells its North American onshore instrument rental business to Pine Environmental Services LLC as part of a strategic move to focus on the offshore energy market

2012

Purpose-built global headquarters

Ashtead Technology relocates its headquarters to Westhill, Aberdeenshire

1997

US expansion with new Houston facility

Ashtead Technology’s first facility in the Americas opens to accelerate international growth in the Americas

1994

Ashtead Technology opens Singapore facility

Ashtead Technology opens its first facility in Singapore, kick-starting the expansion of its full service offering to clients across the Asia Pacific region from the Loyang Offshore Supply Base

1985

Ashtead Technology founded
